Football Foundation supports Manchester’s move
The Getting Manchester Moving physical activity and healthy eating awareness initiative has received a funding boost from the Football Foundation.
Since its launch in January 2007, the scheme has involved more than 10,000 people, while almost 345,000 have accessed information on the dedicated website, www.gettingmanchestermoving.org.
The £205,080 grant will allow City in the Community and project partners Manchester City Council and Manchester Public Health Development Service to offer even more activities over the next three years, such as weight management camps, match day activities and work-based fitness sessions.
Paul Thorogood, chief executive of the foundation, said: “Getting Manchester Moving is using sport in a range of very innovative ways to improve the health of people across Manchester.
“I am delighted that the Football Foundation is now part of the project.”
