Forest tourism campaign launched for England
VisitEngland, the national tourist board, and the Forestry Commission have launched a campaign to promote summer holidays in and around England's woods and forests.
Entitled 'More in the forest', the organisations are working with a number of private sector companies - such as Go Ape Forest Adventure, Forest Holidays and Camping in the Forest - to highlight the breadth of activities available in England's forests.
Ian Gambles, director for Forestry Commission England, said: "Forests are nature's great playgrounds - perfect for riding a trail, swinging from a zip wire or taking a walk amongst stunning scenery.
"Holidays in and around England's forests are also important to the economy; providing jobs and bringing income into the surrounding areas.
"We work with commercial partners and tourism organisations across the country to show just how much more our woods and forests have to offer."
According to Forestry Commission figures, there are more than 40 million visits to England's forests each year.
