Forestry sector to discuss Scottish issues
A range of key issues set to affect the Scottish forestry sector in the coming years are due to be debated by industry representatives at a major conference on 2 June.
Farming and forestry; new markets for renewable energy; and the use of timber in construction are among topics to be discussed at the Low Carbon Economy conference. Organised by the Confederation of Forest Industries (ConFor) and Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS), the conference will include a speech by Richard Lochhead, Scottish cabinet secretary for rural affairs and the environment.
ConFor chair Colin Mann said: "Scotland's forests and the wood they produce can play a significant role in helping Scotland deliver on a low-carbon economy. This conference will help us to understand how best that can be achieved."
