Foster underlines golf tourism potential
Northern Ireland tourism minister Arlene Foster has said that promoting the nation's golf offering to a wider international audience will help generate increased economic benefits.
Foster pointed towards the interest created by Rory McIlroy's recent win in the US Open could help grow Northern Ireland's golf tourism industry to £1bn by 2020. "Holding high profile golf events such as this will be crucial in further strengthening Northern Ireland's position as a world class golf tourism destination," said Foster.
It came as Foster launched PGA EuroPro Open tournament at Galgorm Castle Golf Course near Ballymena, County Antrim.
