Active Nation has received the news that four of their centres have been shortlisted in a national quality award.

The National Health Club Awards selected Yarborough Leisure Centre, All Seasons Leisure Centre, Clayton Green Sports Centre and Bitterne Leisure Centre from over one thousand clubs nationally to proceed to a final shortlist.

The Leisure Centre's, managed by Active Nation on behalf of their partners City Of Lincoln Council, Chorley Borough Council and Southampton City Council, are part of a unique scheme, voted for by the public. The Award measures the quality of facilities, customer service and value for money provided by health clubs and leisure centre's nationally. Over 37,000 members voted in this year's competition.

Simon Brown who runs the National Health Club Awards explains "Belonging to a good health club is a rewarding experience. Members probably spend more time there than they realise and it's become an integral part of their lifestyle. For the club it's not easy to get every aspect just right. It requires a lot of hard work and a belief that members should have a rewarding experience every time they visit. The Members Choice Health Club Awards are designed to find out which clubs are providing the most rewarding experience by asking the public to rate their local club".

"Only 180 clubs across the UK have reached the shortlist stage of the competition and every single one of them should be extremely proud of that fact."

Mathew Smallwood, Group Marketing Manager for Active Nation, said: "It's fantastic news that 4 of our centre's have been shortlisted for the National Health Club Awards. Our charity has gone through a dramatic and exciting transformation over the last few years, so this is a testament to the quality of our facilities, the dedication of our teams and the strength of our partnership with a number of local authorities."

The competition saw members of the public complete a questionnaire between February and March 2012. Clubs have been ranked in 24 regions, a maximum 'TOP 10' clubs are shortlisted in each region. On September 18th the regionally gold, silver and bronze winners will be announced along with the best chains and the individual Grand Prix awards for Best Club in the UK. The awards will take place at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham.
