Fourth Plinth project launches
A different member of the public will occupy the Fourth Plinth in London's Trafalgar Square every hour for the next 100 days as part of Antony Gormley's 'One & Other' project, which launched on 6 July.
More than 600 participants have already been selected to occupy the plinth as part of the art scheme, which was commissioned by London mayor Boris Johnson and is being delivered in partnership with Sky Arts. Housewife Rachel Wardell of Sleaford, East Midlands, was the first of 2,400 people expected to take part by the time the project ends, with applications remaining open until 1 September.
The Fourth Plinth scheme is funded by the Mayor of London and Arts Council England, London featuring a rolling programme of art commissions to occupy the empty plinth.
