Free dance extravaganza in Newmarket
Everyone is invited to get into the groove and join the free giant dance party sessions at Newmarket Leisure Centre taking place from 25 to 27 June.
The Newmarket event is being organized by Anglia Community Leisure as a build-up to the national event, Big Dance 2012, which will begin on 7 July. Big Dance 2012 is the UK's biggest celebration of dance and thousands of events will take place across the UK in all sorts of locations – lidos, parks, palaces, schools, high streets and squares – and in all kinds of dance styles. The event is part of the London 2012 Festival, the culmination of the cultural Olympiad.
The Newmarket party will feature 2-3 dance workshops each day in a mixture of styles, each for an hour long and all completely free. People can choose from styles as diverse as the Charleston to Street Dancing, Line Dancing to Bollywood or the ever-popular Zumba.
Izzy Croker, Health and Fitness Manager at Newmarket Leisure Centre, says: "Dancing is uplifting, energising, healthy and great fun. We can take up to 50 participants per class so this is a great way for hundreds of local people to try out a new dance style for free. Whether you've ever danced before or believe you have two left feet, everyone is invited to join in. Just pull on your dancing shoes and give dance a go."
