Freedom Leisure enhances its indoor cycling offering
Freedom Leisure is enhancing and extending its indoor cycling timetable with the installation of the innovative forward motion video-enabled Myride+ programme.
Initially, four of its leisure centres – Woking, Summerfields, Hailsham and Withdean – are taking the Myride+ installation.
Woking Leisure Centre has included it as part of its £2m refurbishment programme, Summerfields will be opening its studio shortly, Hailsham will be ready in October and Withdean early next year as its £2.6m sports complex extension is completed.
Myride+ comprises a console linked to a large screen onto which is projected high definition, forward motion video. A range of 10 landscapes from across the world is available so that every class and ride is different. A diverse playlist is also supplied for instructors to create the class they want and they can select an on-screen instructor, an instructor voice-over or do the commentary themselves.
"Myride+ brings a dynamic group cycling experience to our centres and provides an exciting new dimension to classes while its challenging, changing programmes are highly motivational for members," says Richard Bagwell, Freedom Leisure Group Sports Development Manager. "A key aspect for us is that Myride+ can be used instructor-free; members simply set it up to go and the Myride+ programme will take them through a full 30, 45 or 60 minute routine."
"Myride+ also avoids the problem of under-used space in the cycle studio. On some days, our cycling studios can be lying fallow for several hours, but with Myride+, there is ample opportunity for the cycle studio to be used throughout the day."
The Myride+ programme is from the Indoor Cycling Group, distributed by Matrix Fitness Systems.
