Funding approved for Irish sports schemes
Irish minister of state for tourism and sport Michael Ring has confirmed that nine more local authority-backed sports schemes are to receive a share of EUR441,223 (£380,193).
Last month, it was announced that more than 50 projects across the country were to receive a share of EUR2.9m (£2.5m) worth of investment from the Irish government.
Ring said: "All the projects are designed specifically to encourage people to take part in sport, or to try out a new sporting activity. They include playing surfaces, outdoor gym equipment and floodlighting."
Mayo County Council; Dublin City Council; and Wicklow County Council are among the recipients of the latest funding.
