Funding boost for Romford park scheme
Havering Council has announced that plans for a multi-million pound revamp of Romford's Raphael Park are to receive a £200,000 boost from Veolia Havering Riverside Trust.
The scheme has already received a £1.7m grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and will see a series of "major improvements" carried out, including the restoration of historic features. An area surrounding Park Lodge will also be subject to upgrade work, with a new café and terrace to be created. Offices and community rooms are also planned.
Work is due to commence in 2012 and will take around 10 months to complete.
