G3 bids for London 2012 delivery contract
UK-based Amec and Balfour Beatty have teamed with US-based Jacobs Engineering to win the role of delivery partner to the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) for the London 2012 Olympics.
The alliance, named G3 (Great Games Grouping), is led by Rod Hoare, who was responsible for the creation of the Heathrow Express.
Jacobs managed Olympic delivery programmes in Atlanta and Athens, Balfour Beatty was part of the design team for the 85,000-seat Olympic stadium in Athens and Amec is the UK’s largest project management company.
It is understood that there have been 80 expressions of interest for the contract, which the Financial Times reported could be worth between £300m and £700m.
The ODA will award the contract this summer.
