GCC to hold 2014 hockey centre public events
Glasgow City Council (GCC) is to hold three public events this month to allow residents to learn more about plans for Glasgow Green Hockey Centre.
The venue will be used as the hockey competition venue at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and is to undergo a redevelopment scheme in preparation for the scheme. Gorbals Leisure Centre (8 March); Bridgeton Community Centre (11 March); and Glasgow Green Football Centre (12 March) will host the consultation events.
GCC's plans for Glasgow Green Hockey Centre include the creation of two new Federation International de Hockey-standard floodlit, synthetic hockey pitches. Changing accommodation to serve the 2014 hockey events, warm-up facilities and 5,000 seats - 500 of which will be permanent - are also proposed.
GCC executive member for the Commonwealth Games Archie Graham said: "To ensure we get a representative body of opinion on what the local community and sports users want from the centre, I would urge all those interested to come along to these events."
