Garner Holt's Yeti
Garner Holt's nine-foot Yeti is described by its creators as the next step in the progression of artistic and technological breakthroughs in animatronics.
To be revealed later this year, the main focus is on realism in movement, with the company claiming to have created something with real personality.
The sculptors created enormous hands, as well as head, face, feet and chest pieces which show age with wrinkles and imperfections. The mechanical technicians created more than 160 individual motions, and fabricators worked months creating moves from entire body lifts to tiny nostril flares. He can wiggle his toes and replicate most human facial motions.
"We wanted the Yeti to be the most sophisticated animatronic in the world and to have such a range of motion and expression that blur the line between animatronics and real life," says Garner Holt's marketing coordinator, Bill Butler.
