Gaylord plans 2,000-room hotel for California
Hotel and resort operator Gaylord Entertainment, based in Nashville, US, is to build a 2,000-room hotel in Chula Vista, California.
The Unified Port of San Diego Board of Commissioners and the City of Chula Vista have approved a letter of intent outlining the initial plans for a resort and convention centre hotel on the city’s bayfront.
Colin Reed, chair and CEO of Gaylord, said: “This is the first major milestone in an effort to bring our Gaylord Hotels brand to the West Coast.”
The project is subject to regulatory and land use approvals, including a review by the California Coastal Commission, which are expected to occur in spring 2007.
Gaylord Entertainment owns and operates Gaylord Hotels, ResortQuest and the Grand Ole Opry, the historic country music venue in Nashville. Details: www.gaylordentertainment.com
