Gehry’s concert hall to open
Frank Gehry’s Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles is to open this month – six years later than originally planned.
The $274m hall will be home to the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Los Angeles Master Chorale and will house 2,265 seats.
The hall is situated on a 3.6acre, full city block, with a section dedicated to an urban park with public gardens and ornamental landscaping.
The design of the building has already been applauded by critics; sweeping lines and the trademark Gehry steel exterior create a dramatic first impression. Details: www.musiccenter.org
