Gladstone wins contract to support Active Newham

Gladstone Health & Leisure has won a five-year contract to supply leisure trust Active Newham with its membership management systems.

Active Newham – which runs three leisure centres in the London Borough of Newham and is the preferred supplier of volunteers for the Olympic Park – has bought into a range of Gladstone’s support services.

The operator is using Gladstone's Plus2 membership management software and has also signed up for a range of additional features, including the Connect online booking module, Join@Home online membership sign up, MobilePro smart phone app, Learn2 course management for its swimming, football and trampolining classes and Contact Manager for prospecting members.

Services were supplied to Active Newham in just six weeks, after the leisure trust severed links with its previous supplier.

Keiron Butcher, IT manager for Active Newham said: “As I had previous experience of working with Gladstone, I knew they were a company I could rely on to deliver and that their software and services could make a real difference at Active Newham.

“During the switch-over, the Gladstone team worked tirelessly to get things ready and never said no to our requests, helping us to tailor the system to our specific needs. Gladstone achieved the impossible, moving an entire leisure business in just six weeks, without any help from the previous supplier.”

According to Butcher, just one Gladstone product – the Learn2 course management module – could pay for Active Newham’s entire switch-over in efficiency gains and control over course payments: “Installing Learn2 helped us identify 2,000 spaces on the previous system that were filled with either duplicate students moving up to the next class, or pupils that had left but not been removed from the system,” he said. “This loophole meant they could potentially swim for free, which represents a potential £96,000 in lost lesson fees.”

Gladstone is investing heavily in research and development and in 2013 released four new products. Butcher continued: “We’ve really seen Gladstone’s software develop over the last few years. They've brought a fantastic range of products to market that really speak for themselves and we're looking forward to using the flexibility they offer to support our customers and volunteers.”

Tom Withers, Gladstone’s Sales and Marketing Director said: “The changeover at Active Newham went incredibly smoothly. As an early adopter of two of our new products, Contact Manager and MobilePro, we're confident we can boost Active Newham’s credibility and professionalism even further, supporting them in gaining and retaining new members well into the future.”
