Glasgow named City of Music
Scottish city Glasgow has been named a United Nations (UN) City of Music by Unesco, the UN's cultural body.
The honour is part of Unesco's Creative Cities Network, launched in 2004, which also includes Edinburgh (City of Literature), Popayan, Columbia (City of Gastronomy) and Montreal (City of Design). In total, the network now includes 11 cities.
A new body, Glasgow City of Music, will be now set up to help the city's music community to "fulfil its potential".
The body will have to report to Unesco every two years on its achievements.
