Glasgow rail station to receive 2014 upgrade
More than £2.8m worth of European Union funding has been announced for the redevelopment of Dalmarnock railway station in Glasgow ahead of the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The station - located in the city's east end - is set to become one of the main transport hubs for the Games, and will benefit from a complete overhaul to improve commuters' travel choices. Scottish cabinet secretary for finance and sustainable growth John Swinney said: "As we look forward to the Games in 2014, this investment will help deliver an efficient transport network for visitors to the city, as well as a lasting legacy of improved transport links in Glasgow's East End."
Glasgow City Council, Clyde Gateway, Network Rail, Strathclyde Partnership for Transport and Transport Scotland are working in partnership on the Dalmarnock scheme.
