Glasgow science centre picks new CEO
After an uncomfortable hiatus, the Glasgow Science Centre (GSC) has appointed a new CEO and a new director of exhibits and programmes.
Brian Weddell comes on board as chief executive. Formerly chief executive of Firepower, the Royal Artillery Museum in Woolwich, Weddell also has senior experience at the Earth Centre in Doncaster. Grant Slinn is now heading up GSC's exhibits and programmes.
Slinn's career spans positions with the Ontario Science Centre, Arizona Science Centre and most recently Science World, Vancouver.
One of Weddell's tasks is to facilitate the re-opening of the site's iconic rotating tower, which has been open erratically since its debut in October 2001. On a more positive note, the GSC is reporting increases in visitors to its science mall and IMAX® theatre.
