Go Ape gets green light for Aberfoyle attraction
Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park has approved plans for a high-wire forest adventure course at Forestry Commission Scotland’s David Marshall Lodge in Aberfoyle.
The Go Ape course will take customers 60ft high up in the canopy, where they will climb, swing and slide through a series of nets, ropes, trapezes and zip slides for up to three hours.
Stuart Chalmers, for Forestry Commission Scotland in Aberfoyle, said: “The course is about challenging yourself while you swing through the trees surrounded by a fantastic landscape. The best bit is that you will also be getting some healthy exercise.
“A visit can be nestled into a day trip, where you can cycle through the forests taking in the stunning views, view some wildlife at our watch centre or take a gentle stroll.”
The proposed course – to be built adjacent to the existing visitor centre – will also open up previously inaccessible parts of the woodland with the creation of new paths.
Go Ape operates high-rope adventure courses at twelve forest locations across the UK. Details: www.forestry.gov.uk
