Go4life funding scheme gets underway
A scout group in Somerset has become the first community group to receive funding from the local council's Go4life Active Incentive scheme.
Go4life, launched by North Somerset council, aims to encourage and support adults and youths above the age of 16 to undertake a more active and healthy lifestyle.
The scheme is has been tailored to benefit companies who are looking to take their first steps towards creating a healthy lifestyle for themselves and their employees.
Go4life has introduced a number of funds that the community can take advantage of - including a physical activity fund along with several others that companies and groups can use to pay for sports equipment.
Go4life has set a target to be met by adults around the area of 30 mins exercise three times a week, which is lower than the government recommended 30 mins five times a week.
As part of the scheme Go4life has agreed that for every person that joins the scouts there will be a donation of £1 sent to the scouts.
