Golden Tulip expands German portfolio
Hotel management company Golden Tulip has signed contracts to operate 27 new hotels under franchise agreements from Germany-based Arcadia Hotels.
The hotels, currently operated as Mercure hotels, will be rebranded into nine four-star Golden Tulips and 18 three-star Tulip Inns.
Golden Tulip currently operates 19 hotels under franchise contracts in Germany, and the new deal will see that figure increase to 46 hotels.
Reinhard Baumhögger, managing director and owner of Arcadia comments: “After 12 years of fine co-operation with Accor, it was time to move the beacons and to look for another hotel brand, which moves with force in the markets.
“The fact that the brands of Golden Tulip have been around for over 45 years and the strong reservation system platform contributed to our choice to start the relation with Golden Tulip Hotels Inns & Resorts.
Golden Tulip operates more than 911 hotels and 81,000 rooms in more than 50 countries, and is currently ranked as the 18th largest hotel chain in the world.
