Golf spa to open in Wales
The £2.5m Monks Health Club at the Machynys Peninsula Golf and Country Club near Llanelli in Wales is preparing to open a new spa in June.
The 2,5000sq ft (230sq m) spa will have six treatment rooms, a relaxation room, aromatherapy room, sauna, steamroom, spa pool and monsoon showers.
It will also be one of Wales’ first spas to include a traditional Hammam.
Treatments at the facility will be provided by Elemis and include a range of massages, hot stone therapy, body wraps and facials as well as mud and salt scrub treatments.
Guests will also have the opportunity to use the 1,500sq ft (140sq m) of fitness facilities which include a 35-station gym and the services of personal trainers.
Monks Health Club and Spa aims to attract the club’s golfers to the facility following a round on the Gary Nicklaus-designed course.
Nicola Bartley, the spa’s general manager, said: “We are hoping that the golfers will want to use the spa when they come in from the course, perhaps taking advantage of one of the several sports massages to ease their muscles.”
The Machynys Peninsula Golf and Country Club and the Monks Health Club and Spa are owned and managed by the Nicklaus Joint Venture, which was established by golfing legend Jack Nicklaus.
