Grant to replace Robertson as minister for sport
By Tom Walker
Conservative MP Helen Grant has been named the new minister for sports and equalities, following the move of current minister Hugh Robertson to the Foreign Office.
The change is part of the coalition government's reshuffling of ministerial posts, instigated by Prime Minister David Cameron and his deputy Nick Clegg.
Grant moves to the DCMS from the Department of Justice, where she held the dual roles of under-secretary of state for justice and under-secretary for women and equalities.
A lawyer by profession, Grant was a talented athlete in her youth and represented Cumbria at County level in hockey, tennis, athletics and cross-country running. She later became under-16 Judo Champion in North of England and Southern Scotland.
