Great Parks, Great Cities conference to take place in London
The programme for parks conference, Great Parks, Great Cities: London 2004 has been unveiled.
Taking place on 10-13 July at various venues across London, the conference – organised by GreenSpace, the London Parks and Green Spaces Forum and Project for Public Places, New York – will include a mixture of speaker presentations, workshops, site tours and evening events.
Speaker Presentations will take place on 12-13 July and include Eden Project creator, Tim Smit, who will look at the current state of parks and public spaces and discuss the need to create inspiring places, which people want to visit.
English Heritage commissioner, Gilly Drummond, will talk about developing a cross-sector approach to regenerating parks and open spaces.
There will also be 14 workshops which will be divided into the themes of management, place-making, design and planning, while more than 20 site visits will take place on 11 July, to various parks and projects across London, including a trip in a narrow boat along Regent’s Canal.
