Great Wolf to develop new resort in California
American waterparks company Great Wolf Resorts (GWR) has signed license and management agreements for the creation of a new 600-room resort at the InternationalWEST development in Garden Grove, California, US.
GWR will receive license fees for use of the Great Wolf Lodge brand name and other intellectual property at the resort, plus management fees to operate the resort on behalf of the owner, Colorado-based real estate company McWhinney. The resort will be owned by a joint-venture, with GWR receiving a minority equity interest for its development-related services. Additionally, the City of Garden Grove will contribute cash and bond proceeds to the resort, as well as establishing a financing district to develop an adjacent parking structure.
Once complete, the new Great Wolf Lodge will be a full-service, family destination resort with 600 rooms, 30,000sq ft (2,787sq m) of meeting space and a 100,000sq ft (9,290sq m) indoor water park, plus additional indoor entertainment areas and amenities. Construction is expected to begin in 2011.
