Green light for Walton-on-the-Naze scheme
Tendring District Council (TDC) has approved plans for a £1.2m access project, which is designed to help safeguard the future of the Naze near Walton-on-the-Naze, Essex.
The Crag Walk initiative forms part of the Naze Heritage Project and will involve a 110m reinforced pathway with interpretation built into the cliffs in a bid to improve visitor experience and protect against erosion. TDC, Essex County Council, the Haven Gateway Partnership and the Environment Agency comprise the Coastal Renaissance Partnership Board, which is behind the scheme.
Essex Wildlife Trust, the Naze Protection Society, the Naze Tower and the owners of Walton Hall Farm and Stone Point are also involved with the proposals. TDC cabinet member for technical and procurement services Nick Turner said: "This scheme will be a great asset to Tendring, residents of and visitors to Walton and will help to increase everybody's understanding of coastal erosion."
