Green light for 'major' Chester park scheme
Chester's Grosvenor Park has moved a step closer to receiving a "major" restoration and refurbishment after members of the local authority's planning committee backed the plans.
Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWCC) has agreed to pursue an amended project for the Victorian park, which has already received Heritage Lottery Fund support.
The plans comprise an internal remodelling, restoration and extension of the Grade II-listed Park Lodge, which will incorporate a café and first-floor meeting rooms for community use.
An enclosed and enlarged play area with more play facilities and a new Training and Events Pavilion are also earmarked for Grosvenor Park under the scheme.
CWCC executive member for culture and recreation Stuart Parker said: "We listened carefully to what happened at the previous meeting and we have addressed the issues raised."
