Green light for new Verwood leisure plans
A decision by the board of Morrisons to approve the acquisition of Verwood Leisure Centre has paved the way for new facilities to be developed in the Dorset town.
The purchase of the current venue will allow the supermarket chain to expand its superstore, while also enabling the relocation of the leisure centre amenities to other sites in the town. Health and fitness facilities will move to Verwood Hub Community Centre as part of a new extension, subject to planning consent.
Meanwhile, East Dorset District Council is working with Emmanuel Middle School on the proposed construction of a joint community and sports facility at the site.
