City College Norwich (CCN) has been granted detailed planning permission for a proposed new £5.7m building to house its creative and performing arts students.
Due to open in September 2013, the complex features a Norfolk barn-style design and is set to include performing arts rehearsal spaces for dance, acting and musical theatre.
Digital media facilities and space for traditional art and design disciplines will also form part of the BDP-designed arts building, which will meet the BREEAM Excellent standard when complete.
CCN will retain the 250-seat theatre located at its Norfolk Building alongside the new venue, which is being part-funded by the Skills Funding Agency.
College principal Dick Palmer said: "This impressive new building will further enhance Norfolk's reputation as a key hub for creative and cultural skills."
