Greene King appeals for Public Housewives
Greene King, the brewer and pub operator, has launched a new recruitment drive to attract more female landladies, and is calling the scheme ‘Public Housewives’.
The company said it has seen a rise in women operating pubs, and wants to build on this as it believes that female landladies resonate “higher standards, homely comforts and food, and friendly, calm atmospheres”.
Regional manager for Greene King pub partners, Robin Tidd, said: “We are seeing more women choosing to run a pub on their own as their own business. Women who have brilliant social and organisational skills, as well as a high level of business acumen, are perfect for a pub operation.”
Greene King’s training and recruitment director, Caroline Hollings, added: “The pub world is changing and there are so many career and business opportunities within the sector.
“Women certainly have got what it takes to run pubs very successfully. I’d like to see more take that step, with their host of natural skills alongside extensive business experience, we’re sure to see some quality businesses from them.”
