Greenfield Dock regeneration completed
Flintshire County Council (FCC) has announced that work has been completed on a three-year scheme to modernise Greenfield Dock in North Wales.
The two-phase regeneration programme was started as the result of the Welsh Assembly Government's Wales Coastal Path project - set up in 2007 - and the Flintshire coastal cycle path initiative. Phase one included the installation of a sculpture, a tarmac walkway and interpretation panels, while the second phase has seen work to improve the cycle park and improve the dock's commercial element.
FCC deputy leader Tony Sharps said: "When I think of what was here three years ago, when this was derelict land, it makes me proud of what has been achieved, thanks to the hard work of all parties involved." Gerrard Hotchkiss, chair of the Friends of Greenfield Dock, added: "The aim is now to have a feasibility study to look at the technical aspects of reinstating the dock as a going concern for recreational access."
