Guestroom revamp for Hong Kong's Peninsula Hotel
Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels has announced a complete revamp of the guestrooms at The Peninsula Hong Kong.
The renovation is expected to be carried out in two phases, beginning in January 2012 and scheduled for completion in April 2013. The renovation is anticipated to increase the hotel's three year capital expenditure programme by around HK$350m (£28m). The hotel will remain open for business for the duration of the project - including unaffected guestrooms, food and beverage outlets, the spa and the retail arcade - with very minimal disruption to its public areas, which will not be affected. The company does, however, anticipate an impact on the hotel's earnings for the period of the renovation due to the reduction in the number of guestrooms available.
The renovation is part of a scheduled upgrade programme to improve facilities at The Peninsula, with the last significant room redesign coinciding with the office tower opening in 1994.
