Gulliver’s Eco Park opens
Gulliver’s Eco Park near Milton Keynes has opened its doors.
The new theme park attraction – located adjacent to Gulliver’s Land – aims to help visitors understand topics such as sustainability, healthy eating and recycling within a fun and interactive environment, comprising four zones.
Evolution of the Planet features a boat ride along a Jurassic-themed river; a tree top viewing tower and tree walks; a flight simulator and climbing zone, as well as educational exploratory digs.
The Water Area centres on an artificial lake equipped with lake cruises and pedal boats, in addition to a sandy beach and lakeside nature trails. Entertainment will be provided at the outdoor Globe Theatre.
The Land Area provides tractor and canal rides, as well as an interactive kitchen and vegetable patch.
Visitors can also experience the workings of the Recycling Centre, which deals with all waste from the Eco Park as well as Gulliver’s Land.
The final zone – the Energy Area – will open in 2008/9.
Additional facilities include a Waterside Restaurant offering homemade food, a Tree House Food Market selling local produce and an Eco Park gift shop.
Construction began in 2005, with the theme park opening on schedule over the May bank holiday weekend. Details: www.gulliverseco-park.org
