Gunwharf wins regeneration award
Gunwharf Quays, the Berkeley Group and Land Securities £200m mixed-use development on Portsmouth Harbour waterfront, has won the 2003 British Urban Regeneration Association (BURA) Best Practise Award as an outstanding example of regeneration.
In addition to retail outlets and residential accommodation, the development features 20 restaurants and bars, with six more such units currently under construction. Recent openings include FoodNation and Mediterranean restaurant, Levant.
The leisure offer at the site includes an 11 screen Warner Village Cinema, a 26-lane Bowlplex and a Jongleurs Comedy Club. A new Grosvenor Casino will open this month and health and fitness group, The Edge, will be opening a club later this year. A 130-room Express by Holiday Inn hotel is currently under construction and is similarly scheduled to open in late 2003.
