HLF funding for Parkanaur heritage project
A new project designed to explore the heritage of Parkanaur Manor House in Dungannon, Northern Ireland, has received a grant worth nearly £50,000.
The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has awarded the funding to Speedwell Trust, which aims to help school children and the wider community to learn more about the property. Formerly a 17th century cottage, the building has since been turned into a Tudor Revival-style manor house and is one of the oldest properties in the area.
A heritage trail featuring interpretative signage will be created throughout the surrounding forest park, which will be open all year round, while historical artefacts will also go on show. Paul Mullan, head of HLF Northern Ireland, said: "The school programme and heritage trail will undoubtedly attract many more visitors to the site, and will increase the enjoyment of this unique heritage asset."
