HLF grant sets Scotsman Flying
Work is set to begin later this year on a £1.4m interactive exhibition, telling the story of the Flying Scotsman, at the National Railway Museum in York.
Funded by Yorkshire Forward and a £275,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund – as well as corporate supporters and public donations – the exhibition will let visitors view the locomotive as it is prepared for journeys, while live webcam footage will allow them to watch it being operated.
The HLF grant will also help fund the upkeep of the locomotive.
