The new US$400m (AUS$512m, 310m euro, £204m) Hard Rock theme park under construction in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, US, is to have rides supplied by German manufacturer HUSS Park Attractions.

At the IAAPA Attractions Expo in November, the park’s owner and operator, Myrtle Beach Operations, revealed which organisations would be supplying the major rides. Each was given the challenge of delivering innovative features to their attractions to enhance the appeal and uniqueness of each ride experience, and HUSS successfully completed the remit to be included among a prestigious line-up of industry manufacturers.

HUSS president Wolfgang Richter said: “We are obviously delighted to have been chosen as one of the suppliers of several of the ride attractions at the park.

“The new Hard Rock Park will feature rides from some of the most well-known suppliers from within the amusement industry and we are proud to be among them. It will be a tremendous facility and we are very happy to be involved from the start. We will be creating very special, unique rides and I am confident they will be extremely successful and popular elements of what will be a very special entertainment venue.”

The 140-acre park is scheduled to open in spring 2008 and incorporate more than 40 attractions, a multi-purpose live music amphitheatre, shows and sound systems specially developed for the project, roller coasters and numerous other ride-based attractions, children’s play areas, restaurants, cafés and retail outlets as well as a vast collection of rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia.
