Hard Rock Park to be sold
Seven months after first opening its doors, Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is reportedly up for sale after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September.
The US$400m (£245.4m, 311.4m euro) theme park took seven years to develop, with more than 50 rides and attractions based on famous rock musicians and groups. But now it is set to be sold off by the end of the year. Owned by HRP Myrtle Beach Holdings, the park was due to reopen in 2009. A park spokesperson told the Myrtle Beach Sun that it still hopes to do so albeit with a new owner.
Subject to court approval, the park has proposed that it be put to auction on 15 December with an asking price of US$35m (£21.5m, 27.2m euro) according to court documents, although interested parties must submit bids by 12 December.
