Haverfordwest leisure centre plans unveiled
The plans for a new leisure centre in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire in Wales, have been unveiled.
The facility will be located on a site which is currently occupied by the former county offices and the old headquarters of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority – the existing buildings will be demolished.
The centre will feature a 25m, eight lane swimming pool with adjoining learner pool and seating for 350 spectators, a four-court sports hall and two storey fitness suite with dance studios.
Rob Lewis, cabinet member for sports and leisure at Pembrokeshire District Council said: "This will be Pembrokeshire's flagship leisure centre and will be the perfect venue for the county's swimming, gymnastics and badminton championships."
Work on the centre is due to commence later this year and is expected to finish late in 2008. The project will be managed by the county council's highways and construction division, and forms the centrepiece of a wider scheme to enhance the St Thomas Green area.
