Hotel du Vin (HdV) has acquired the renowned St Andrews Golf Hotel on The Scores overlooking St Andrews Bay in Scotland for an undisclosed sum.

The hotel is adjacent to St Andrews’ famous Royal & Ancient Golf Club and features 22 bedrooms, two function rooms, the Number Forty restaurant, the Number Forty cocktail bar and Ma Bells bar.

Ken Sims, director of deal broker Christie + Co, said: “We were instructed to discreetly market the St Andrews Golf Hotel at the end of October 2007 and confidentially introduced the opportunity to a number of key operators. Hotel du Vin responded particularly quickly.”

The property was extensively refurbished during 2007.
