Heads of Workplace Safety Authorities meeting

The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has announced that there is a scheduled meeting of the Heads of Workplace Safety Authorities (HWSA) in Adelaide on 31 August.

One of the items on the Agenda will be to discuss the Stage 2 Review of the National Licensing Standard and the development of criteria to assess high risk work requiring licensing.

Attached here is a paper that constitutes initial thoughts from the Office of ASCC as to the process for developing the criteria for licensing high risk work.

A representative from ASCC will meet with ACCI and the ACTU on 30 August, prior to the HWSA meeting to discuss the draft proposal.

This is a draft proposal and will go through a number of iterations prior to the final proposal being agreed. However, your initial thoughts on the process would be appreciated in writing by 28 August 2007.
