The world’s first restaurant dedicated exclusively to Heinz Baked Beans opened in Melbourne, Australia yesterday (26 May).

Located at 19 Fitzroy Street, St Kilda, the Beanz Meanz Heinz restaurant will open for an initial two days to test the popularity of the idea.

If the concept proves successful, it could be rolled out to Sydney.

The menu will feature an array of dishes including the Heinz Hot Pot; a bean pizza named after Hawthorn Skipper, Shane Crawford, called The Crawf; bean fritters on rocket and spicy pork spare ribs with Heinz sweet chilli beans and sautéed greens.

Crawford, who is the public face of Beanz Meanz Heinz in Australia, said: “This idea is going to be a lot of fun for Melbourne. We’re encouraging everyone to come down and taste an authentic baked beans meal.

“I’ve been a baked bean fan since I was a kid – my aim is to try everything on the menu.” Details: www.heinz.com.au
