Heritage bid for the Lakes
A proposal to designate the Lake District National Park as a United Nations World Heritage Site is due to be put before the All Party Parliamentary World Heritage Group at the Houses of Parliament by a bid consortium of 35 organisations from across Cumbria.
The group is working towards nomination in 2011 and, if successful, the park could join the Grand Canyon in world recognition.
