Hilton announces Panama expansion plans
Hilton Hotels Corporation has announced that it is to open four new hotels in Panama City, Panama.
The deals comprise two management agreements for one new Hilton and one new build Embassy Suites by Hilton, a franchise agreement for a Doubletree by Hilton conversion and a franchise agreement for a new build Hilton Garden Inn. Each hotel represents a first for each brand in the country.
Daniel Hughes, senior vice president of operations for the Caribbean, Mexico and Latin America, said: "These newest additions reinforce our commitment to add a number of properties to our Central America portfolio and to have a presence in one of the region's fastest growing destinations.
"We're looking forward to being part of a thriving city that continues to offer some of the best tourist attractions in the region."
The 351-room Hilton Panama, being developed by Star Bay Group, will boast an 8,200sq ft fitness centre, a 10,750sq ft spa, an outdoor terrace pool and a Las Vegas-style casino.
Sabadell Investment is developing the 306-room Embassy Suites by Hilton, which will feature a fitness centre, a spa, an outdoor swimming pool, gift shops and a casino, as well as a signature restaurant and a ballroom.
The Doubletree by Hilton Panama City is to be developed and operated by Blue Star Hospitality. The 213-room property will offer a rooftop fitness centre, pool and spa, meeting space and a restaurant.
Finally, developed by Metropolitan Hotels, the Hilton Garden Inn Panama will boast 163 guestrooms and seven suites and facilities will include a 24-hour business centre, meeting space and a fitness centre.
