Hilton expands lifestyle hotel concept
Hilton has opened its second lifestyle hotel in London, the 245-room Hilton Tower Bridge.
The launch will be closely followed by the opening of the Hilton Manchester Deansgate on 9 October, the third property in the lifestyle concept chain.
The first lifestyle hotel to be launched by the chain was the Hilton Canary Wharf, which opened in July. The company says the concept, designed by Jestico & Whiles, has been created to appeal to both business and leisure travellers by offering a more relaxed atmosphere and less of a business ‘feel’.
The Hilton Tower Bridge has been described as “mirroring the classic and stylish tailoring of a bespoke suit – classic but surprisingly different at every turn”, while the Hilton Manchester Deansgate “brings a flavour of Scandinavian chic and classic 50s style”.
Howard Friedman, president for the UK and Ireland, said: "Through these exciting new developments we aim to deliver what today's guest demands – fantastic modern facilities for both business and leisure, with an element of luxury and surprise."
Elsewhere, Hilton has recently announced new management contracts in Reading, Wembley, Chester, Limerick and Dublin Kilmainham, and is also to sell the historic Hilton Edinburgh Caledonian Hotel for an estimated £50m as part of its continuing strategy to reduce its directly owned assets while retaining long-term management contracts.
The 250-room Caledonian boasts a LivingWell health club and Ocean Rooms Spa and completed a £6.6m refurbishment in 2005. Details: www.hilton.co.uk
