Hilton introduces its second hotel in Finland
The Hilton Helsinki Kalastajatorppa opened its doors to guests last month and follows Hilton Helsinki Strand as the group’s second property in Finland.
The £16.9m refurbishment upgraded the former Scandic hotel, situated by the sea, three miles from the centre of Helsinki, the capital city.
The hotel offers wireless internet connection in each of its 238 air-conditioned rooms, while all 17 conference rooms have been upgraded to include video conferencing facilities and wireless broadband connections.
Leisure amenities include a LivingWell gym, a brand new sauna and swimming pool with access to the private beach and marina.
The plans were designed by Stockholm-based architects, Hardinger Arkitekter and included the restoration of some of the original features of the listed restaurant building.
Jouni Kaivola, manager, said: “We are delighted to open the second Hilton in Helsinki and aim to become a part of – and benefit from – the current boom in tourism in the region.”
Hilton International operates over 400 hotels worldwide, excluding North America.
Around 250 properties are branded Hilton, 140 are under the mid-market Scandic brand and 15 are operating under the luxury Conrad brand. Details: www.hilton.co.uk
