Hilton places Metropole properties on market
US-based Hilton Hotels Corporation (HHC) is to sell two of its largest UK hotels – just days after acquiring them from the UK-based Hilton Group.
The 1,054-room Hilton London Metropole – the second largest business hotel in Europe – and the 794-room Hilton Birmingham Metropole have been made available for a combined value of around £400m.
Hilton is looking to secure a long-term management contract, enabling it to continue to operate the hotels following the sale of the properties.
Hilton has appointed specialsit agent Christie & Co to handle the sale.
Chris Day, Christie & Co’s managing director, said: “These properties occupy prominent positions in the UK’s two largest cities and have very strong trading histories.”
HHC acquired London-based Hilton Group’s entire hotels portfolio for £3.3bn.
