Hilton to open first hotel in Iraq
Hilton Worldwide is set to open its first hotel in Erbil in northern Iraq in 2013.
Hilton has agreed a management deal for the 200-bedroom property with New York, US-based real estate developer The Claremont Group.
Facilities at the DoubleTree Erbil will include a health club, swimming pool, two restaurants and conferencing spaces.
Hilton is the latest global hotel group to have announced plans to re-enter Iraq. In July, Marriott International revealed its plans to launch two hotels in in Erbil.
The two Marriott properties are scheduled to open simultaneously in 2014 as part of the new mixed-use Empire World development and follows an agreement with Empire Iraq.
In May, InterContinental Hotels Group's president Kirk Kinsell told USA Today that the company was "looking at Iraq" as a potential site for new properties.
