Hilton’s Roosevelt New Orleans hotel reopens
Hilton’s Roosevelt New Orleans hotel has reopened following an extensive US$145m (£88m, 102m euro) restoration.
The official opening took place on 30 July – almost four years after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina caused the hotel, built in 1893, to close.
The 504-bedroom hotel also boasts a Guerlain Spa, one of only three in the US. Facilities at the spa include 10 treatment rooms, a couples therapy suite, a VIP treatment room and a hydrotherapy area. A signature, two-hour Waldorf Impériale treatment will be offered exclusively to hotel guests.
Accommodation provision within the luxury property includes 135 luxury suites. Other facilities include the Blue Room entertainment venue, the Sazerac Bar and Restaurant, a business centre, private dining and suite butler service, an outdoor pool and a gift shop.
The hotel was acquired from Fairmont Hotels in August 2007 for US$19m (£11.5m, 13m euro) by Dimension Development. The group signed a deal with Hilton to reopen the hotel under its Waldorf-Astoria brand – though the hotel will keep its historical Roosevelt name. Details: waldorfastoria.com
